Corda PressCORDA added to the General Services Administration's list of Federal Supply Server Vendors Facilitates purchase by US Federal Government agencies Lindon, Utah September 17, 2002 - CORDA Technologies, Inc., a Lindon, Utah based developer of dynamic, interactive, Web-based charting and graphing solutions, today announced that it has recently been added to the General Services Administration’s (GSA) list of Federal Supply Service vendors. Obtaining a GSA purchase number means U.S. government agencies can now purchase Corda Technologies software and services quicker and at a discounted price. The GSA number is: GS-35F-0759M. Over the last year, there has been an increased awareness of section 508 requirements to make electronic information technology accessible to all federal employees and individuals outside of government that access government information. The increased awareness has led to escalated inquiries and sales of CORDA’s PopChart charting and graphing solution from government agencies that are required to comply with the section 508 requirements. The GSA number will facilitate purchases. On August 7, 1998, the President signed into law the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, Public Law 105-220. Title IV of the Act is the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998. Subsection 408(b) amended section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. 794d). Subsection 508(a)(1) requires that when Federal departments or agencies develop, procure, maintain, or use Electronic and Information Technology (EIT), they shall ensure that the EIT allows Federal employees with disabilities to have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to the access to and use of information and data by other Federal employees. Section 508 also requires that individuals with disabilities, who are members of the public seeking information or services from a Federal department or agency, have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to that provided to the public without disabilities. David Vandagriff, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Corda said, “We are responding to numerous requests from federal agencies to obtain a GSA contract number. They are interested in accelerating the ordering process so that they can begin running the software. Our PopChart charting and graphing software is the only solution available that will automatically generate descriptive text to describe the contents of a chart or graph. This text can then be read aloud by a screen reader to assist low vision or blind individuals that want to access the information. Government agencies are most interested in this feature in order to comply with section 508 regulations. Several government and military agencies such as NASA, EPA and the DOT are currently using our software. We anticipate significant additional orders now that we have received the GSA number.” About CORDA Technologies Corda Technologies is the global leader in interactive data visualization solutions.
