CORDA Technologies Unveils PopChart 5.0™ Dynamic Web Charting And Graphing Solution

New version of industry-leading PopChart solution launches capabilities that include dial gauges and customizable shapes- February 3, 2003, Lindon, Utah--CORDA Technologies, Inc., a Lindon, Utah based developer of the PopChart™ family of dynamic, interactive data visualization solutions, today announced the release of PopChart 5.0. The new features in PopChart 5.0 are designed to benefit both IT professionals and end users of online charts and graphs. PopChart 5.0 is available now, and is fully interoperable with CORDA's new OptiMap™ 5.0 solution for spatial and geographic mapping, which the company is also announcing today.

PopChart 5.0 offers a wide array of new and enhanced graph types. The new version of PopChart is able to support flow charts and process system diagrams in addition to traditional charts. A chart of a gas pipeline, for example, can offer a schematic drawing of the pipeline. As the viewer mouses over each of the graphic segments the chart can provide data about selected parameters such as pressure or cubic feet of gas being delivered.

Another addition to PopChart 5.0 is the ability to customize online charts to incorporate any type of pattern or image. For example, salesmen of Lexus automobiles are able to create graphics that compare the sale of various models using an icon of each of the Lexus models the chart represents.

The 5.0 products can also create dial gauges (like a speedometer) that can be used to monitor designated activities on a continual basis. All of the new features are easy to incorporate in dashboard applications that give users immediate access to mission critical data in a straightforward format.

New sample code enhancements make it easier than ever for chart builders to quickly and easily create charts and connect them to databases. PopChart 5.0 automatically generates code that can be simply dropped into JSP or ASP pages. In addition to the Java, .NET and end-to-end XML support introduced in PopChart 4.0, the 5.0 version introduces automatically-generated code for Perl and PHP.

"We have had a chance to evaluate PopChart 5.0 and found the new enhancements to be tremendous," said Bill Black, Service Delivery Supervisor for Rio Tinto of Salt Lake City. "The new dial gauges were exactly what we hoped they would be."

As with PopChart 4.0, PopChart 5.0 is an ideal solution for enabling the delivery of charts and graphs as a Web Service.

All of the new features serve to augment the outstanding features that are already a part of the PopChart family. PopChart provides Flash, SVG, JPEG, PNG and TIFF images that have drilldown and popup features to assist in navigating through data. There is wireless and handheld support using WBMP output. PopChart works with any database and any browser, and with Best Image Fallback, the highest quality image is always delivered to the browser. Many different graph types are supported in both vector and bitmap images. All graphs and charts are Section 508 compliant with descriptive text that permits the visually impaired to have the information read to them by a screen reader.
