Interactive map displays up-to-date information on Coalition troop locations in Iraq with photos and statistics
March 25, 2003, Lindon, Utah—CORDA Technologies, Inc., a Lindon, Utah based developer of interactive data visualization solutions, is using the company’s OptiMap technology to create a Web page that provides an up-to-date map of U.S./Coalition and Iraqi forces in Iraq. CORDA creates the “Troop Tracker” website with data from non-classified sources. The company uses its OptiMap and PopChart technology to display the information with easy-to-understand images and graphs.
“In a time of national trial and uncertainty, we feel it is important to provide the public with a resource that enables them to view up-to-date information regarding the general locations of the Coalition forces,” said Neal Williams, CORDA’s chief executive officer. “The Troop Tracker page on our website is based on non-political facts as they are reported. This map helps cut through the confusion and uncertainty that can come naturally in a conflict such as this.”
Troop Tracker displays a map of Iraq with icons that represent Coalition forces, Iraqi forces, cities, and other points of interest such as oil fields. Visitors can move their cursor over icons to read pop up text and view photos get a sense of what is happening regarding the war throughout Iraq.
