Corda PressCORDA® Technologies Creates Interactive Breast Cancer Awareness Web Site Interactive maps and graphs display breast cancer occurrences, mortality rates, and information about where women can go to obtain mammograms and attend events Lindon, Utah-October 2, 2003- As a public service, and in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, CORDA® Technologies, Inc., a Utah based developer of interactive data visualization solutions, has created a Breast Cancer Awareness Web site using its PopChart +OptiMap technology. Complete with interactive maps, graphs and statistics displaying national and state views of occurrences and mortality rates. The information can be accessed free of charge from Corda's Web site at http://www.corda.com/breastcancer. The Web site also includes local breast cancer information and statistics for each state in the United States and links for women to find hospitals and clinics where they can go to obtain mammograms. The site additionally displays a listing of various national events, which are scheduled to promote October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "With more than 200,000 U.S. cases of breast cancer being reported each year, it is likely that the disease will, either directly or indirectly, affect the life of each person in the nation," said Neal Williams, chief executive officer at Corda Technologies. "Corda encourages women everywhere to learn as much as they can about breast cancer including the prevalence of the disease, what the risk factors are, what treatments are available, and where they can go for help and support. Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to fight breast cancer." During 2003 an estimated 211,300 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed among women in the United States. This year, the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebrates 19 years of educating women about breast cancer, especially the importance of detecting the disease in its earliest stages through screening mammography, clinical breast examination, and for women 20 years of age and older, breast self-examination. The third Friday in October each year is National Mammography Day, first proclaimed by President Bill Clinton in 1993. On this day, or throughout the month, many radiologists provide discounted or free screening mammograms.
