CORDA's CTO to speak at GeoTec Event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Speech to discuss innovative solution to display Web-enabled, interactive geographic data

Lindon, Utah-March 29, 2004- CORDA Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of innovative data presentation solutions, announced today that Mardell Cheney, Corda's vice president of development and chief technology officer, will be speaking at the GeoTec Event on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. in room 705 of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The presentation is entitled "Don't Use A Semi When All You Need Is A Sedan".

The GeoTec Event provides a unique gathering place for geotechnology professionals from all disciplines to interact and learn from each other's experience and knowledge. The conference theme, "Pathways to Integration," will explore the adoption of geotechnology in mainstream IT and the adaptation that is extending the reach and functionality of the technology.

"GIS is an extremely powerful tool for analysis of geographic data, and for the display of very fine detail such as street level maps," said Mardell Cheney. "However, a lot of data can be presented in what I will call a business map which does not require the cost or complexity of a GIS system. For the presentation of information in an organization's database which have geographic components such as a city, zip code, county, region, state, or a country-smaller, faster, real-time solutions have proven far easier to use and much more cost effective."

Cheney will discuss a case study regarding how the National Cancer Institute (NCI) replaced a GIS cancer-mapping site with a far more powerful, yet less-expensive mapping solution from Corda to display cancer mortality rates in a graphical format. The new NCI site provides the following:

• Greatly improved speed and responsiveness - maps appear in a split-second instead of a minute.
• Excellent reliability - the site has been up 100% of the time during its first six months of deployment, regardless of load.
