Corda PressVisualization Software Helps Track Kids Health Issues Corda's Software Helps Kidsdata.org Display Trends Affecting Children's Health in Northern California Lindon, Utah-November 29, 2004-CORDA Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of innovative data presentation solutions, has been selected to provide a Web-based software solution for kidsdata.org to display and present pertinent children's health information in interactive and understandable charts, graphs and maps. Kidsdata.org, sponsored by the Palo Alto-based Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health, provides information on the health and well being of children, ages 0-18, in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in Northern California. The site lists and tracks local information on health topics for children, including analyses of how children are faring in each topic area; a database of related news and research; and resources for obtaining and giving assistance. The site has incorporated PopChart® and OptiMap™ from Corda to display organizational data in the form of interactive charts, graphs, and maps. Visitors can visually compare data and see trends on various topics such as asthma, immunization rates, reading proficiency, etc. "Through this site, we have brought together key local indicators regarding children's health and well being," said Andy Krackov, director of public information and electronic media for the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health. "In addition to providing the data, we want to ensure that people who need this information -- health professionals, grant writers, media -- can interpret it quickly." "We needed the ability to display the information in a way that goes well beyond the usual tables and charts," he said. "With the implementation of Corda's products, we believe we have accomplished our goals." Mark Gregor and Velir Studios of Cambridge, Mass., designed and developed the interactive site, in coordination with the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health. "We really wanted a server application that could quickly generate easy to understand line graphs, trend graphs, maps and bar charts." Gregor said. "In the past, we've had to create custom applications to deliver visual reports. One of the great things about Corda's PopChart and OptiMap is that they are flexible enough to allow us to design the graphs and maps to look exactly how we want them to look and work precisely how we envision they would work. Corda's solutions allow us to plug in the data we need to create a dynamic environment--instead of creating static line graphs and static maps that are pre-created, Corda gave us the flexibility to create these elements all on the fly, which was really significant." Kidsdata.org was built, and is maintained, by the Information Program of the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health. The goal of the Information Program is to promote the well being of children by serving as a source of neutral, timely, evidence-based information. Please visit www.kidsdata.org.
