CenterView Builder Interface

The CenterView™ Builder interface provides the following panes and bars to aid you in dashboard construction:

Project/File Browser

Located in the upper-left portion of the CenterView Builder interface, the Project/File Browser provides a component view of the current dashboard project. Selecting the Project tab opens the Project Browser, which provides a hierarchical view of major dashboard components, starting with dashboard at the topmost level, and proceeding to pages, KPIs, images, DataFunnel™s, etc. as sub-levels.

Selecting the Files tab opens the File Browser, which provides a file view of the various dashboard component files and their locations. For more information on dashboard files, see Dashboard Data.

Object Browser

Located in the lower-left portion of the CenterView Builder interface, the Object Browser provides a hierarchical view of the XML objects used in the current dashboard. Use this view to browse to and add objects to the dashboard project.

Selecting an object or file in the Project/File Browser shifts the Object Browser view, showing all objects in the object tree that are down from the selected object or file. By default, the Object Browser view is fully expanded to show the object hierarchy.

Selecting an object in the Object Browser causes a list of all available XML objects supported by that object type to appear in the Object Palette.

You can add sibling objects (objects at the same level as the selected object) by right-clicking an object and selecting Insert tag. Add a subordinate object by right-clicking an object and selecting Add child tag.

The Object Browser has four header buttons to help you manipulate the object tree:

Button

Description

Collapse all nodes in the tree.

Closes all open branches in the object tree.

Expand selected object.

Opens all branches of the tree from the selected object down.

Move selected object up.

Moves an object up one position among its sibling objects.

Move selected object down.

Moves an object down one position among its sibling objects.

Object Palette

Located in the lower-right portion of the CenterView Builder interface, the Object Palette provides a list of subordinate XML objects available for the object currently selected in the Object Browser.

Selecting an object from the Object Palette inserts an object of that type as a sub-element to the object currently selected in the Object Browser .

Selecting in the Object Palette header causes the focus in the Object Browser to move upward one level, to the parent of the currently-selected object.

Object Properties

Located in the upper-right portion of the CenterView Builder interface, Object Properties provides a list of all properties that can be configured for the object type currently selected in the Object Browser. Use Object Properties to modify the property values associated with the XML objects in the dashboard. Object Properties also pops up brief descriptions of selected objects/properties.

Modify an object property by selecting it in the Object Properties pane. You can change the property by typing directly in the value field, or if a specific set of values is supported, by selecting a value from a drop-down list. Some objects provide an ellipsis button that opens a separate dialog from which you can enter attribute values.

Located directly below Object Properties, a description field gives a brief description of the currently selected XML object. You can see more information about an XML object by clicking the help button in the description field. This opens a description of the XML object from the Corda© CenterView Object Reference.

Preview

Preview provides a current rendering of the selected project entity. The preview updates in real time as you navigate the object tree and add, change or delete objects in the project. By default, Preview is located in the center portion of the CenterView Builder interface, but you can choose to move it to its own separate browser window if desired (see Tool Bar).

Corda CenterView includes a limited version of the open source Tomcat Web application server to support the Preview pane. You should start Tomcat prior to loading CenterView Builder if you want to leverage that feature.

Tomcat is installed automatically as part of the Corda CenterView Development installation option (see Corda CenterView Installation for more information). No further configuration is necessary, and configuration settings are maintained in <product_root>\Server\config\dashboardserver.properties.

To start Tomcat, do one of the following:

Consoles

As you view a dashboard project in the Preview pane, there are various console links throughout the page, such as Banner Console, Topnav Console, KPI Console, and Page Console. These links are not visible in the published version of the dashboard but are useful for troubleshooting your project as you develop it. The console links allow you to view all the XML used to generate the selected view.

Note: You can disable Console links in the Preview pane, if desired (see Tool Bar).

Use the console views to review your dashboard XML and locate errors.
