Pareto graphs are used to determine the "vital few" factors that are responsible for the major part of a problem or a solution. Pareto graphs consist of a combination bar graph and a line graph. The bars represent percentages of the data set and the line displays a cumulative total of the bar percentages.
Pareto graphs can be used for:
- Prioritizing significant items among a large amount of data
- Determine production failure causes
- Determine best or worst performance
- Identify most of least important cost elements
