Corda's CEO and President, John Purvis |
A Message from our
CEO
It was really a pleasure to spend so much time this past month talking with many of you about
CenterViewTM
3.0! If any of you missed my invitation in the last Newsletter, please let me repeat it here.
I warmly invite you to a personalized tour of CenterView 3.0! Drop me a line at jpurvis@corda.com and
we'll contact you to arrange an individual demo of our breakthrough CenterView 3.0 release. Just let us know how much time you'd
like to spend--we'd love to visit with you. In the northern hemisphere, at least, spring is here so we'll imagine talking
with you on the porch. For our friends across the equator, it really wasn't that bad a winter and you have little to worry
about--in any event, nothing warms the heart like CenterView 3.0 which is a huge leap forward for data visualization, performance dashboards and
business performance management. Incorporation of Ajax technology extends the eye-popping Corda data visualization experience.
We've continued our unrelenting push for ease-of-use in dashboard design and administration, while building on more than a decade of strength
in industrial strength performance, scalability and security. With CenterView 3.0, we've also pushed deeply into the new frontier of
enabling action to solve a problem once it becomes apparent through the traditional purpose of dashboard monitoring--you'll love the new
alerting and collaboration features of CenterView 3.0. You'll also love our new data snapshot capacity which facilitates trend
analysis. With CenterView 3.0, Corda enriches the philosophy of universal data access and extreme implementation speed--for example as
embodied in our patented DatafunnelTM technology--with sophisticated new portal integration capability.
Please drop me a line, wherever you may be on this spinning planet--and increasingly that could be
anywhere. Corda has enjoyed the personal experiences as much as our business successes in delivering performance dashboard solutions to
companies of all sizes and kinds around the world in recent months. In the May Newsletter, we'll feature a preview of Corda's
Visual Evolution Conference coming up this autumn (or coming down this spring--let's just say October). We really want to have
representation across Corda's global user community and are working hard to make the trip to Utah very much worth your time!

How Do You Keep Water Flowing in the Desert?
The Las Vegas Valley Water District needs to determine at a moment’s notice the condition and quality of its water, as
well as the state of its facilities. It must also keep close control on water allocation, which changes constantly, to ensure that everyone gets the
water they need.
Corda PopChart® allows managers to get a global view of large amounts of data. Real-time access to the data allows the Las
Vegas Valley Water District to make the decisions needed to keep water flowing in Las Vegas.

Tech
Tip
One of the great new features of CenterView 3.0 is the enhancement to our tables. We have been asked
how CenterView can change the color of a cell, or display an image in a cell, or change the text based on a value in that cell or adjacent
cells.
In CenterView 3.0 this is very easy.
First add a table to your dashboard. You will be asked where the data is coming from. After you
have configured that, you will be able to configure a table header and footer for your data. When you click finish your table will appear.
Now you can add an 'Apply' to the table. Name it so you know what the Apply is doing, then create a
filter to apply it only to certain cells based on the value in that cell or adjacent cells. Now you can create the transform. You can apply a CSS
style from the default Applies that are created when you created the table, or you can show a Corda image, or specify a drilldown or hover.
One request we get quite often is the ability to show an image when a value is within a certain range. To do
this, create an Apply and name it. Then in the Row and Column specify the rows and columns (for example rows from 2-1000 and only column 2). Then
place a check beside the if statement and make sure that %_DS:CELL_VALUE_% is selected. Configure the range of values you want to apply to
it. At the bottom of the Style tab make sure the Literal Value radio button is checked and then enter the image path you want to show. For
example:
< img xsrc="http://mydomain.com/image.bmp" />
If you have several ranges with different images you can follow the same steps for those other ranges. Very
quickly you will see how easy it is to apply different transforms to your table to develop a powerful easy to understand table.
